SUMMER - Sizzle, Unwind, Music, Mingle, Entertain, Relax

SUMMER is a time for friends, family and fun. Want to make the most out of summer this year then remember that SUMMER is a time for sizzle, a time to unwind, a time to mingle, a time for live music, a time to explore local events, and a time to read and relax. Follow these simple tips and the SUMMER will certainly be a great time for one and all.

Summer is all about Sizzle. The sizzle of steaks, chicken and chops on the grill is a crowd pleasing favorite. Picnics, cook outs, deck parties and other get togethers are a must all summer long. Summer sizzle can also be found on the beaches and by the pool. Summer is a great time to spend time outdoors enjoying the rays and soaking up the sun. Many people spend the summer perfecting their tans - which can lead to some unwanted consequences, so by all means - get outdoors and enjoy the sun but remember to pack a hat, sun glasses and some sunscreen.

Summer is a great time to Unwind. The pace is slower in the summer, there is time to enjoy a lazy long summer night, sipping cocktails, beer or a cold soft drink and while away the time in the hammock. Summer is a time to recharge and review and just hang out. With more hours in the day, there is a bit of extra time to rest and relax.

Summer is about live Music. There are many outdoor concerts during the summer months. Be it classical, jazz, reggae, rock or oldies summer is a great time to head outdoors and enjoy a concert or two. Many communities offer a summer concert series and many outdoor concert venues are understandably only open during the summer. Outdoor live music is a great way to enjoy music, food, friends and family. There is nothing like lounging on a blanket with friends or a loved one and nibbling on great picnic treats and sipping a favorite beverage. Live outdoor music, particularly at an outdoor festival or in a community park is a great way to introduce young children to music. The outdoor setting makes it easier for them to stretch out, it is more casual and if a quick escape is needed, there are no rows of other patrons to circumnavigate.

Summer is the time to Mingle with old friends and a great time to make new connections. With outdoor parties, patios at local restaurants and bars and other outdoor gatherings - keeping up connections and making new ones is easy. Summer is also the season for weddings, reunions and other family functions. It is a great time to see and be seen.

Summer is a great time to Entertain. The atmosphere is more relaxed, allowing for more casual menus and some great outdoor fare. Invest in some hula gear and throw a Hawaii style luau. Play some great blue grass music and roast up a hog for a down home country fest.

The 4th of July is also a great out door entertaining event. A community BBQ or a block party is a great to stay in touch with all the neighbors. Those kinds of parties are great for adults and children alike.

Summer is the season to Relax. The dress code in many offices relax during the summer and linen and cotton ensembles rule, hem lines of pants and skirts rise and shoes and boots give way to strappy sandals and dressy flip flops. Food and drink relaxes as well. Beer and light fruity cocktails are plentiful. Salads and other cool and refreshing dishes dominate the scene. Fresh fruit and vegetables is plentiful at farmers markets and lazy hazy Sunday afternoons mean time to shop a festival or outdoor market place, kick back by the pool or rest on the deck.

Summer is the season to enjoy many of life's finer pleasures, the great outdoors and the company of friends and family. No matter the occasion or the pursuit, summer is a time to kick back, lighten the mood and enjoy the sweetness.

Mygiftbaskets, No wonder summer is my favorite month--it's far too short where I live.! I love barbecuing and being outside hiking, biking, fishing, or just sittin in the sun. It's all good. Thank you for reminding us about all the great things to do during the summer. Julie
